I'll be completing the first decade of my career in a few years.
As I see it, I've spent this decade primarily in – exploration. Directional exploration. Holding onto certain common threads. Riding on emergence. Each step arising from the previous one. No concrete long-term plan. Following my flow, chasing learning, self-expression and connection. Trusting that it would lead me to the right places.
And it has. With its own set of consequences. There have been peaks of fulfilment and lows of stagnation. Moments of pure magic and periods of plateaus and waiting. It has meant being considered a novice very often, and sometimes being one.
This has me wondering – how do I want the next decade of my career to look like? How do I approach it?
One intention I have been holding is – immersion. To commit and go deep. Double down, as they say. Perhaps something that I've been hesitant to do fully.
And I'll write more along the way.
I'm curious to know other appraoches to looking at one's career. What has been your working thesis (given your context and life situation)? And how has it worked out over the years / decades?
