How much do you roughly spend on personal care products each year?
What about on health – nutrition, fitness, therapy..?
And do you set aside a budget for learning?
Or is that outsourced to your organisation?
Before joining TAO, Vandana Menon ****& Rajeev Natarajan told me: that they recommend all partners, including clients, invest in their own development every year. They encouraged me to do the same. The org can support – but you have to be invested yourself, including financially.
But, aren’t we learning all the time? Watching reels, listening to podcasts, reading posts on LinkedIn and Substack, and asking Claude our most peculiar and bizarre curiosities?
Why then do we need a growth fund beyond our internet bill?
Because, knowing isn’t learning. Data is not knowledge. Consuming isn’t digestion, forget assimilation. Just like with proteins & vitamins, only what is absorbed builds strength & vitality.
With the levels of information exposure we have today, what feels like learning often adds to mental noise, increases clutter and even creates dissonance.
What then creates the kind of embodied clarity that lets action emerge from a place of stillness and not restlessness – as Yoga and various streams of Indian wisdom have long pointed to?
At TAO, that's the kind of deep learning we facilitate – for organisations and individuals – through our leadership programs and coaching.
This year, we are hosting an open cohort in Bali for senior business leaders. Exploring personal leadership through the lens of Indian mythology and local stories. Integrated with theatre, art, and movement for embodied learning. The Mythological Quest. Link in the comments.
